| Ypsilanti Charter #119 Order of the Eastern Star 5752 Whittaker Road Ypsilanti, Michigan 478197 Meeting Our business meetings are the second Monday of the month at 7:30 p.m. Our Specials are the fourth Monday of the month. Our Annual Meeting is the first Monday in October at 7:00 p.m. We do not meet in the months of July and August The Order of the Eastern Star is the largest fraternal organization in the world where both women and men can belong, however, women run the organization. We are dedicated to Charity, Truth, and Loving Kindness. One of our charities is service dogs. The Order was founded by Robert Morris, a Mason. He wanted his wife and other women to know the benefits of belonging to a fraternal organization. Michigan Grand Chapter is the oldest Grand Chapter in the world, organized in 1867. Ypsilanti Chapter was granted their charter on October 10, 1894. In 1876 General Grand Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star was organizaed to bring unity under one body for all chapters in all states, territories and Mexico. Who can join?
